terms of service

The agreement, in language a person can read

Last updated 9 August 2026

The short version

  • Cadenza is a wellness companion, not medical care. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent anything, and it will never tell you what to take or when.
  • In an emergency, call emergency services. Not Cadenza.
  • What you say to Cadenza belongs to you. We don't own it and we don't sell it.
  • Cancel in one tap. Annual plans are refunded pro rata, any time, no questions.
  • AI gets things wrong sometimes. Please don't rely on it for anything that matters medically.

1. What Cadenza is, and what it isn't

Cadenza is a general wellness companion. It offers small daily things - a breath, a stretch, a joke, a line in a journal, a conversation - and it remembers you between sessions.

Cadenza is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease or condition. It is not a substitute for care from your doctor, your neurologist, a therapist, or any other professional.

Specifically, and permanently, Cadenza will not:

  • Tell you when to take medication, or anything at all about dosing
  • Track, score, chart, or grade your symptoms
  • Assess your memory, your thinking, or your speech
  • Read data from a watch or any other sensor
  • Provide a dashboard to a clinician

Talk to your own doctor before changing anything about how you eat, move, or manage your health. Nothing Cadenza says is medical advice, and nothing on our site should be read as a promise about your health.

Emergencies. Cadenza cannot call for help. If you are in danger, or someone is, call your local emergency number.

In the United States, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24 hours a day - call or text 988. Support resources are always reachable inside Cadenza, and you never have to tell us anything to see them.

2. Who can use it

You need to be 18 or older and able to enter a contract. One account is for one person. A caregiver may set up and pay for an account on someone's behalf with that person's agreement - but the account, and everything in it, belongs to the person using it.

Keep your login to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has it.

3. Subscriptions, price, and cancelling

What it costs

  • Cadenza - $29 a month, or $290 for the year
  • Cadenza Together - $49 a month, or $490 for the year

Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax we're required to add.

The free trial

Fourteen days. Cancel any time during it and you are not charged. We'll remind you before it ends - we're not interested in catching anyone out.

The founding price

If you join as a founding member at $29 a month, that price stays $29 for as long as your subscription remains active. Not for a year. If you cancel and come back later, you rejoin at whatever the price is then.

Renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Monthly plans renew monthly, annual plans annually. We'll email you before an annual renewal.

Cancelling

One tap, inside the app. No phone call, no retention offer, no survey asking why. Your access continues to the end of the period you've paid for.

Refunds

Annual plans are refunded pro rata whenever you ask, for any reason or none. Circumstances change, and sometimes they change quickly. You should never have to argue with us about that. Monthly plans are not pro-rated mid-month, but write to us if something has gone wrong and we'll sort it out.

Price changes

If we change prices we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email, and it will never affect a founding price that's already locked.

4. What you say belongs to you

Your journal entries, your conversations, your legacy sessions and everything else you create in Cadenza are yours. We claim no ownership.

You give us a narrow permission - to store, process, and show that content back to you, and to anyone you have specifically chosen to share an item with - purely so the service can work. That permission ends when you delete the content or close your account.

We will not use your content to train AI models unless you separately and explicitly opt in, which is never required and can be withdrawn.

You are responsible for what you put in. Don't upload anything you don't have the right to.

5. Sharing, and the two-sided account

Sharing is per item and chosen by you. It can be revoked at any time. Someone who pays for your subscription does not thereby gain access to your entries - paying is not owning.

If you share something with another person, we can't control what they do with it once they've seen it. Share accordingly.

6. About the AI

Cadenza uses AI to listen and to speak. Two honest limitations:

  • It will sometimes mishear you. Speech recognition is imperfect, and it is more imperfect with some voices than others. We're working on it continuously.
  • It can be wrong. Anything factual it tells you should be checked, and anything it says about health should be discussed with your doctor.

Cadenza is a companion. It is not a person, not a professional, and not a replacement for either. We will tell you so from time to time inside the product, because we think that's the honest thing to do.

7. Fair use

Please don't use Cadenza to break the law, harass anyone, attack the service, scrape it, resell it, or reverse-engineer it. Don't try to reach another person's account. Don't use it to give anyone medical advice.

If you do any of that, we may suspend or close the account. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you the chance to export your data.

8. Availability and changes

We'll try to keep Cadenza running, but we can't promise it will never be down. We may add, change, or remove features. If we remove something you rely on, we'll tell you in advance and, where it's material, offer you a refund.

9. Ending it

You may close your account at any time. We may close an account for a serious breach of these terms, or if we stop operating Cadenza - in which case we will give you reasonable notice, a way to export everything, and a pro-rata refund.

On closure your personal data is deleted as described in the privacy policy. Export first if you want to keep anything.

10. The legal parts

Cadenza is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to Cadenza is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited - including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and disputes will be handled by the courts of [JURISDICTION], without affecting any right you have to bring a claim locally as a consumer.

Before anything formal, please write to us. Most things can be sorted out by two people talking.

12. Odds and ends

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. Our not enforcing something once doesn't mean we've given it up. You may not transfer your account to someone else without our agreement. These terms, plus the privacy policy, are the whole agreement between us.

If we change these terms materially, we'll email you at least 30 days beforehand.
